Why Fibre To The Office (FTTO) for airports?

FTTO is particularly suitable for environments that have special requirements, like a large number of ports and whose infrastructure is distributed over larger buildings or connects multiple buildings with each other. In airports security is one of the key topics to tackle. Also, long distances need to be covered. With FTTO you have less floor distribution rooms that need to be serviced, maintained and secured and in the end this solution needs less space than a traditional LAN. You have redundancy at port level because nothing's worse than when your network is down.

Especially in airports, FTTO can connect all locations with each other for miles from one single central location. The sub distributions are deliberately avoided in this case, since they would bring an additional security risk with it.
